Valley of the Kings

We woke up with an early start to the day because the day before that we went to Karnak Temple and got there at midday only just realising we were not smart as it gets too hot at that time. When we arrived at the Valley of the Kings there was a sunrise in the crack of the mountains and you could see all of the hot air balloons. After we had paid we realised it was practically just us and a Chinese group.

The Valley of the Kings is an ancient archeological site in Luxor full of tombs of kings from many years ago, estimated from 1539 BC to 1075 BC.

We started off by seeing Ramses IV, you start off by walking down the narrow walkways with our eyes catching glimpses of hieroglyphics which if you think about it they are practically emojis! At the end of the walkway you find yourself in a sandy room with a tomb where the body is kept.

After that we headed off to see Tutankhamun which was my favourite part. We were not allowed in the room where they found the hidden treasure but we were allowed to see the mummified body of Tutankhamun which had turned black. We got to see the tomb he was found in.Tutankhamun was 9 years old when he became a king.

After these two we headed off to see Ramses V and Ramses VI, then Merenptah and Ramses the III.

After that we headed to Hatshepsut temple.

  1. Very good post phoebe, nana and I went there quite a few years ago so recognised some of it. Looks like you’re all having a great time. Xx

  2. What an interesting history lesson. You are certainly spot on with the emoji – something to think about!.
