Our incredible adventure is finished and it’s been the journey of a lifetime. Sailing across the Atlantic for the final chapter was an amazing way to end the trip and complete our loop around the world. Our family world tour started from the UK and travelled around the world through Greece, Turkey, Egypt, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and the USA. We have had many highs, a few lows and so many amazing memories.
We left Brooklyn, New York, behind to board the modern day Titanic. Crossing the Atlantic in 8 days meant that the jetlag was swallowed up amongst the onboard endless afternoon teas, deck walks and swims. The Queen Mary 2 is the world’s only ocean liner offering transatlantic crossings. After the non-stop travel and the stress of Craig nearly not making it we very much enjoyed the chance to relax, reflect on our trip and catch up on sleep. Highlights for me included reading an actual book from the onboard library, scones, refreshing outside swims and plenty of fresh air. Cunard is known for it’s formal dining and entertainment but we didn’t join in the fancy stuff though as we had no ball gowns in our backpacks! We were more than happy to make do with the endless buffet and kids club as we are more at home in jeans than dresses.
As I am writing this we are home, exhausted and very happy to be back in sunny Seaford, reunited with Marmite! Normal life is slowly resuming with the wanderlust packed away in the backpacks for now…
